What a week! Memory Lane Films goes international, in the process filming two weddings in less than 48 hours. Our kit escaped the baggage handlers unscathed on both legs to and from Milan (though a windshield for one of the mics has been declared M.I.A), and we picked up our rented Fiat Panda – next time – without a hitch. Incredible views of Lake Como on the drive along its shores, and a stunning, colourful town built right into the hillside waiting for us about half way along. Many thanks to Piero at The Orange House for his lovely rooms so close to the location, and for jeopardising his barbecue to allow us to film from his rooftop terrace overlooking the lake. And here’s to the bride and groom – the new Mr. and Mrs. Garcia (when the papers clear back in Vegas that is). Such a cool, intimate wedding at Villa Cipressi, followed by a gelato in one of the cafes on the waterfront with close friends and family. Amazing landscapes, a perfect setting for the ceremony, and near-perfect weather – we couldn’t really fail to get incredible light-filled, colour-saturated images in the can. Congratulations to Mike and Jess – may your cacti never wither.
And then it was a hustle back to bonnie Scotland for the marriage of Derek and Kirsty at The Vu, Bathgate. Clear Scottish skies, a beautiful bride and an ever so slightly nervous groom waiting at the altar made for a beautiful lakeside wedding, followed by a really fun reception in the glass walled venue. A special mention for the characterful minister and the father of the Groom, who made our filming so easy throughout the whole day. Thanks especially to Kirsty – it’s not many brides who would take the time to make sure the filmmakers were so well fed and watered on her own wedding day – and all of the dancers at the reception for staying up on their feet until the very last dance.
Now it’s time to throw away the key to the door of the edit suite for a little while. Have a look at our website and check out our Vimeo and YouTube for samples of the wedding films we’ve shot over the last few weeks.
We’re looking forward to the weddings of Lorraine and Alvin and Baz and Neeru in the next few weeks!
